Narathiwat is located in the South of Thailand. It shares a border with Malaysia. The majority of the province is covered by dense jungle and mountains, about 75% in fact. The close proximity to the equator means that the climate here is very tropical. The economy of Narathiwat is fuelled by the abundance of natural resources in the provinces, as well as the fertile land which grows a lot of fruit and rice. This is one of the only provinces in Thailand which has a Muslim majority, however there are still a number of beautiful Buddhist Temples to visit, as well as a number of mosques in the province. Sadly though, the demographics here has often led to violence, although none recently.
