Lamphun Province is located 670km from Bangkok and is located in the northern most part of the country. The ping river runs through the area, and it is completely surrounded by mountain chains, the Thanon Thong Chai Range and the Khun Tan Range being the most beautiful of these. Agriculture and tourism play a huge part in the economy of the Lamphun area, with the majority of tourists that visit here being from around Thailand and other Asian countries. One of the popular sites here is the Wat Phra Phutthabat Tak Pha where legend has that Buddha stayed here.
