Chiang Rai is the northern most point in Thailand. It is bordered by the countries of Myanmar and Laos. Some areas of the province are deemed unsafe due to the amount of drug smuggling that goes on between the countries, however the government are attempting to deal with the problem. The area is a combination of flat plains and mountain ranges, which means there is a good blend of landscapes in the province. There are many ‘adventure’ activities in the area including rafting and rock climbing. For the tourist that likes to ‘relax’ a little there are a number of temples to visit, as well as golf courses.
