Chanthaburi Province lies to the East of Thailand. It shares a border with Cambodia on the east with the Gulf of Thailand to the South. The majority of the area is very coastal, with the area slowly turning to Mountains as you get further up North. The Chanthaburi River flows directly through the province. The majority of the income for the economy is supplied by the gemstone mining that takes place in the province, in particular rubies and sapphires. There is also a fair amount of production of Fruits here, with the highest producing fruit being the Durian. The province supplies 27% of the world’s production of this fruit.
